We all deserve to live our healthiest and happiest life possible.
With this e-Newsletter, This month let us work on getting the fundamentals well established regarding healthy eating. You may need to make some changes in how you have been feeding yourself. The first gentle challenge I will throw at you is to Eat with Awareness and Mindfulness. "So much of our eating takes place outside our awareness that it's easy to underestimate how much food we actually put into our bodies". (The End of Overeating, Kessler, 2009) Research has shown that eating foods that are high in sugar, salt, and fat make you want to eat more. This is a deliberate business strategy by food companies - they use science to help them create highly rewarding or addicting foods. This gets you hooked. Typically, these are the kinds of foods many people are nibbling on throughout the day. These foods are laid out in your office; they are in your car and at your desk. Increase your awareness of what you eat, and you will start winning your health back. You can undo any mindless eating by using a journal to keep track of what you eat, when you eat and where you do most of your eating. Journaling is a great tool to help you gain control over your food choices. My second gentle challenge to you is to eat for the healthy enjoyment of food. To lay a solid foundation for healthy eating you will be best served learning to enjoy eating without any guilt or regrets. To do this I recommend you consider the following strategies:
"The great aim of education is not knowledge but action" Herbert Spencer (19th century philosopher, known for coining the term "survival of the fittest"). Keeping this philosophy in mind, you can start laying your solid foundation for healthy eating today by starting with these two strategies I have shared with you. You will be on your way to living your healthiest and happiest life possible. Next Issue ... |
