Solutions for Eating at Social Gatherings

Your families/friends may not be aware, or care about your health goals – many of my clients identify their families and friends as some of their biggest obstacles to achieving their health goals.

Save unnecessary calories by choosing your appetizers strategically – a strategy that works well in social gatherings is to ensure the main course is balanced. By balanced, I mean a plate that is half vegetables or salads, one-quarter lean protein foods such as meats, fish or poultry and one-quarter whole grains. After the main course, if there are fruits alongside desserts, go for the fruits first. You can’t go wrong with this approach!
